The Public Health Department of Municipal Corporation Kanpur is single-mindedly committed to provide a clean and healthy environment to the citizens, so that the health of the citizens remains good and cleanliness is maintained in the Municipal Corporation area.

The main duties of the Public Health Department are as follows:-

• Cleaning of roads, streets and drains.
• Banning the sale of expired/stale and spoiled food items.
• Working effectively on precautionary and control measures against infectious diseases.
• Issuance of license under Food Adulteration Impediment Act.
• To control and monitor the places allotted for burning of dead bodies.
• Supply of clean drinking water to parks and supply of water for commercial purposes.
• Drainage cleaning.
• Cleaning sewage from domestic and industrial establishments of the city, as well as treating it properly.
• To construct and maintain an effective and efficient sewage system in the area.
• Apart from this, another main duty of the Municipal Corporation is to implement solid waste management so that cleanliness and healthy environment is maintained in the area.
• Collecting solid waste, treating it and disposing of it properly as the purpose of that waste has now been fulfilled.
